Jiayu S3 gets Android 7.0!!

So while Vivo has finally announced giving their phones Android 6.0, the JiaYu S3 is getting Android 7!

JiaYu do seem to have been laid to rest (despite rumors of buyouts and new phones) however the Chinese based JiaYu community is still thriving and Chinese devs have been hard at working building new Android builds for their favorite phones.

According to a recent post on the JiaYu Forums, the JiaYu S3 can now be (unofficially) updated to a Beta system based on Android 7.0!

Two builds are available depending on the version of the JiaYu S3 you have and according to the changelog most features are working with the new ROM.

Do keep in mind that this is a development ROM though and there might be bugs before installing it on your own phone. Details and download links can be found here.

That’s pretty awesome for a phone with a MT6752 in it. Not much dev work done on this SOC because from what I recall reading a while back MT never released the source code for this SOC.

It’s nice you’re posting about our work, but please correct the text. There has no Chinese dev being involved, and the forum you mentioned is just discussing our work.

AND DO YOU KNOW WHAT? I bought a Jiayu S3 for my mother 6 months ago and the phone still breezes through any task you through at it!
That is the single reason why we need proper Jiayu back – QUALITY.
Always great built quality and cameras for a good price.

  Yeah the S3 is a great phone will simple correct design that makes it a winner. We Jiayu S3 owners just need a tech upgrade even if they kept the same design.

    They can release a phone every two years for all I care, but if the quality is the same, they will always have me as a customer.
    So far have bought 5 Jiayu phones –
    2xF1 1xS1 1xS3 and 1xF2 – ALL WORK GREAT TILL THIS VERY DAY!
