First Chuwi’s laptop designated “LapBook” coming soon

LapBook

Seems like after dozens of pure tablets, convertibles and 2in1 devices Chuwi moguls finally decided it’s time to follow suit and release some full fledged laptop too. So here we are with the news about the upcoming Chuwi LapBook, which should be out pretty soonish.

The LapBook should be a laptop of a standard build with a 15,6-inch FullHD screen (1920×1080 so aspect ratio 16:9), but with the size compressed to dimensions of a usual 14.1-inch one. Listed dimensions are 37.10 x 23,97 x 2.2 cm with 1.86 kg of weight. That’s not bad, but keep in mind it’s most probably not a metal build, from the pictures and the initial materials it looks like plastic chassis through and through.

Gizchina News of the week

As for the hardware inside the sarcastic little me would like to say “as usual”, because it’s really always the same with Intel Atom X5 Z8300, 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of storage with microSD port for expansions. Why are the chinese makers afraid of at least the more powerful Zxxxx models ? Anyway back to the specs of the LapBook, 10000 mAh battery, 2 MPix front camera, HDMI, dual full sized USB ports (1 x 3.0 and 1 x 2.0) and Windows 10.

Cheaper chinese laptops are quite often a gamble due to pretty suspect build quality, but with Chuwi that shouldn’t be an issue, so the LapBook is shaping up pretty nicely, especially when you factor in the price level. Presale is running on Gearbest until November 3rd and the whole thing is up for grabs for $241.73, which is not bad at all in my eyes.

Darn, i still remember the horror reformatting Win10 Pro for Asus Transformer. It is so damn freakin’ SLOWWWWWWWWWWW.

Atom is still not suitable to run a full version of windows 10. It is just not enough juice. Especially since they still using slow storage (i don’t know what it is but it is not SSD sata)

€241 is faaaaar too expensive!!! the very same device from Jumper is less, for the same (average to low) specs!
    Indeed, X5-8300 4/64GB is becoming… boring 🙁

Yes but Jumper is one of the “suspect” low quality pieces im talking about, colleague did a review of it and still having nightmares since 😛

No, no, I own one, and believe me, it’s running fine. I was afraid about Win10 Anniversary update, but everything went smooth, without any ‘driver’ issues.
I was far less lucky with my Pipo W9S (same design, same build, only brand differs, if you see what I mean)…
So, Jumper EZBook 2 is a ‘decent’ device for me (ofc I’m not gaming with it, but that’s not the target market of such a PC). I don’t know what happened with your colleague, but no nightmares here 😀

AMD’s Zen comes out in a few months as well, they are bound to have something to shake these garbage ultrabooks up.
