Whatever you might say about UMi devices one think most are likely to agree on are is durability.
UMi really stepped up their build quality last year with the introduction of the UMi Hammer (see our smash test video here) and ever since they have made phones that have been long-lasting (if nothing else).
Durability remains the name of the game with the upcoming UMi Diamond smartphone.
The Diamond will use strengthened and scratch-resistant T2X-1 glass which has helped the phone to survive over 10,000 laboratory knocks, bumps and drops.
Over 10,000 drops does sound very impressive but bear in mind that 8000 of those tests were performed at just 10cm, other drops were taken from 1.2meters.
Gizchina News of the week
For anyone who has followed smartphone technology at all, the video below will show you plenty of standard quality tests (which in all honesty most Chinese smartphones have proven to survive also).
What is your opinion on UMi smartphones? Do you agree they are durable?
