Snapdragon 821 powered OnePlus 3T to launch 14th November

It’s been less than 6 months since the OnePlus 3 was launched, but another variant of the phone is on the cards.

As many of you might already know, it’s the OnePlus 3T, powered by a slightly more powerful SoC than what you get on the standard OnePlus 3. It’s the Snapdragon 821 we’re talking about.

According to news from sources in China, the OnePlus 3T will launch on the 14th of November in London.

The OnePlus 3T is expected to come in two storage variants, sporting 64GB and 128GB of ROM respectively. Thankfully though, RAM will stay at 6GB like the original OnePlus 3.

As for the pricing, the OnePlus 3T (T for Turbo?) is expected to go for $480 apiece, making it $80 dearer than the standard OP3. Specifications of this phone are expected to include an AMOLED display, Sony IMX395 rear camera (16 mega-pixel) and an Android Nougat-based OxygenOS ROM.

Nobody will agree with me here but oh well…
I feel a bit betrayed, I took the plunge to get the OnePlus 3 after having the OnePlus One for just over 2 years, I thought I fancy a new phone…
£309 was and still is a lot of money to me and so when I purchased it just a couple of months ago I thought I was getting fantastic value for money with regards to future-proofing, though now it appears that OnePlus is about to release a superior device so soon after and OnePlus being OnePlus will surely drop support quite quickly for the 3 in favor of concentrating their resources on the newer device…
I’m sure people will tell me to stop whining etc here, but my point is, those of you who do obviously have deep pockets, I can’t go out every month and get a new device, that’s really not the way the world works for me or should work either!
The OPO was OnePlus’s current flagship for ages and even when the Two came it it was still very competitive due to the Two being such a let down…
It just doesn’t feel at all how it was for me when I got the One back in the day and so I’m dissapointed… If the 3T does come out soon as rumored and it does trump the specs in more or less every way, I’ll be flogging my 3 on eBay sharpish and probably go Xiaomi finally or just get some £100 phone to just do the job and forget about all this mobile tech stuff as I seriously wouldn’t be able to keep up with the cost of things all the time… Sad… 🙁

  Its not like OP3 will lose any value. If they somehow stop supporting it is when you should get unhappy, but with 3T they just want to stay competitive. Most chinese brands will come with 821 phone and not responding means losing market share…

    Ye, I see what you’re saying, but it’s not quite the same… I thought OnePlus would stick to their guns a bit more and wait for the 830 to appear in the OnePlus 4…
    Otherwise, why didn’t they release an SD805 and 808 version of the One?

      You are right, its unusual from them. But I am more concerned about the price raise. I mean, If I was to choose 3 vs 3T now I would probably still go for 3 because the price difference doesnt look to be backed by enough added/upgraded features…

  I hear ya. I got my OP3 last week upgrading from the OPO like yourself. But that’s okay. I don’t mind since all in all, the OP3 is still a bitchin’ phone and I don’t think paying an extra $80 is worth it in my book. They both look the same, you won’t notice the difference 🙂

There is one giveaway for 3T …and the pricing. Look where the launch will take place …. London. The home of their first major Network Vendor O2…who will shift …more phones in Europe than ever before for OnePlus. It is all part of the move to provide retail margins and let O2 shift thousands for “free” with monthly inclusive contracts.
