There once was a time that the Antutu benchmark of a phone was real valuable information.
It seems, however, no one has told Elephant’s marketing department that many savvy phone buyers have long realised that a high score on Antutu doesn’t necessarily mean a high-performance phone. And is surely doesn’t give an inkling if the phone has any bugs or other issues, still it seems to be a popular way to measure a phones performance in China so here we are.
Elephone is pretty chuffed (happy in Northern England) with their Elephone S7’s benchmarks which the company are reporting to be 86,000 points. What we don’t know is if the phone had been optimised for the test and if production units will offer similar scores.
Gizchina News of the week
Elephone is putting their high score down to the “heart” of the Elephone S7, the Mediatek Helio X20 chipset, and we’re sure the 4GB RAM helped too.
For those interesting in buying the S7, the phone will come in a range of variants from a $139.99 model with lower level specs, all the way up to a range topping model with 4GB RAM and 64GB memory. Other features include a 1920 x 1080 display, bezel-less design and multiple colour options.
The smartphone maker is already offering the phone for pre-sale now, head over to Elephant’s product pages for more information.
Disappointing. These scores make me depressed.
