Gionee has launched some rather pretty phones recently, so it’s almost like they’ve created the Gionee M2017 to balance things out.
Gionee’s international presence is growing but they still have an eye on China and the markets there which explains why the Gionee M2017 has been spied at TENAA.
As anyone with eyes can see, the Gionee M2017 isn’t the best-looking phone on the market, in fact it looks rather over-designed, like one of those pricey Vertu devices, and that’s the effect they are after.
Gizchina News of the week
China’s wealthy will soon be in spending mode for the upcoming Chinese Spring Festival and they’ll be wanting devices like this to show off in front of their peers.
Specs confirmed by the TENAA listing include a 7000mAh battery, 5.7-inch display, 6GB RAM, 128GB internal memory, dual rear camera design, 8 megapixel front camera and Snapdragon 652 chipset. It also appears that the phone has a fingerprint scanner below the display too.
We’re expecting the price of the M2017 is going to be high and also expect some pretty premium materials used in the build too including leather, alloy and maybe even some gold.
What do you think of the design? Ugly or are we being harsh?
