CES, the first big tech show of the year, kicks off in January and for the first time Xiaomi will officially be there.
CES is the first large consumer electronics show of the year, but despite drawing in crowds from around the worlds, Xiaomi has never been in official attendance. For 2017 though this will change.
Gizchina News of the week
Xiaomi has confirmed that they will be holding a new conference at the LA Show and that they plan to launch a new product.
There is no mention of what type of product Xiaomi intends to launch i.e smartphone, smart home tech, tablet etc, but they have said that the new product “illustrates how it (Xiaomi) is pushing the boundaries of innovation”.
It’s all very exciting isn’t it!?

Hardly. They can’t produce it in large quantities. If it’s a phone at all it will be a huge step forward.
There have been many leaks already about smaller sized mixes and even in different colors so I’m not sure if limited quantity still applies…
I don’t know about litle guy, the big guy will remain to be limited quantities available simply because of its ceramic back that is not easy to produce nor possible in very large quantities. Regarding leaks about smaller version that will be highly dependable of its back. Even the ceramic have outstanding thermal capabilities they aren’t a right way to go when phone production is concerned because it’s heavy & hard to produce, the standard aircraft grade (durable) aluminum is still the best material to use (light & have good thermal properties) at least until we get carbon nanotubes polymers in usage (very light & extraordinary durable).
While I do agree with you regarding Ceramic materials (Personally not a fan) they have been working on something that keeps getting leaked. It just feels unlikely to be a coincidence that these leaks are coming right around the time they are preparing something for the upcoming event.
Sure as hell, we will find out on said event date. And who knows, maybe the new mix isn’t even ceramic – maybe it’s similar to their Mi5s with aluminum?
Time will tell…
Looks like Mi Mix mini only whose a dream. Will just mention again if they present a phone at all on the CES for a worldwide it will be a huge step forward.
ok….?
I have no idea what your last comment meant but I’ll just agree with you lol
It means their is no Xiaomi Mi Mix Mini.
https://www.gizchina.com/2016/11/24/122009/
Xiaomi needs to go with international suport for its phones so if they promote one as such on the upcoming CES it will be a huge step forward in the right direction for them, all do things are much more complicated regarding real support & service networks. I just bought one Xiaomi phone in the land & from the land where I live, I payday a bit extra for it but at least I will have a proper in land one year warranty on it because of lows in my country. When you buy it from foreign web shop you don’t have that security & naturally this peels peple of from buying (especially pricier models). I hope now you understand.
I am assuming English isn’t your first language – and if that is the case, it would explain our apparent miscommunication. I apologise if we were going on about different things lol.
In any case, you do have a point and it does seem like the Mix mini was just some crazy rumor. And yes it would be a really positive point for all if they make a stronger international presence.
it would be a dream
Who would like to put 600 USD in a phone that be destroy at the first drop? Its not all about being innovative, there is a lot more to achieve in terms of durability of their products that’s why i will never buy this phone or any other phone unless they prove us the contrary. They always claim they do break through’s and innovations and in the end the execution is so poor that its not even worth the relatively cheap price (in the case of Mi Mix its a robbery)
Maybe check out durability tests on YouTube before posting giant responses to posts that have relatively little to do with your personal rants?
personal rants? because i don’t believe this pseudo hype with this phone? I bought my first chinese phone 5 years back, i’ve been following this blog and others for pretty much the same time AND yes i’ve seen the mi mix durability tests, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeLKqjvmFvQ
and this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5MkZC1uRZY
What do you to say about that my friend? I know Xiaomi and even with Hugo Barra this company still did not evolved the way it should have, i was too very enthusiast to see real flagships to challenge the big player, instead Huawei which is a far better company slowly but surely is gaining market share with premium devices, what is Xiaomi selling? Mainly mid range phones and will continue to do so…
Look “friend”, my comment had nothing to do with your feelings and disliking of said company. Read my comment again lol;
All I stated was maybe they will launch Mi Mix globally. Remind me again why and how it warrants all of whatever you are blasting my way? Maybe direct all that passion somewhere where it matters like at Hugo Barra 😀
you got caught trying to hit me back without any proof of whatever you were claiming this phone is. Next time you make a statement check your facts before, if you were wondering if they will launch it globally i guess that you are interested in buying it? then my comment is to the point, don’t buy this crystal phone, don’t trust Xiaomi with such devices, you should ask yourself why they cannot mass product this device, if you managed to get the answer you will agree with the points i made, make though-full decision before buying any device at this price tag.
Excuse me? Do you have some kind of personal vendetta against anyone that even makes a comment about Xiaomi phones?
Listen weirdo, not only did you not prove me wrong or “catch me trying to hit you back” but you are going off the rails over a comment I made regarding a phone possibly being launched by said maker. Where in all of my comments did I suggest I am even interested?
Get YOUR facts straight next time you start mindlessly attacking someone for no goddamn reason. And probably take a chill pill, not everyone is out there to argue and battle with strangers.
Oh and I am pretty much done with this ridiculous “argument” which I had no intention of having when all I stated was MY OPINION of what the announcement might be. Go preach your “wisdom” somewhere else.
Something like durable huge size phablet or a heavy with a decent size display phone rugged or not that won’t brick if dropped on display on hard surface simple doesn’t exist. Even if you drop a HTC 10 that is only 5.2“ & built like tank it will brick. Again one day when used materials change this might also change. There are already the displays with flexible plastic base but still no protection glass that would be so durable and flexible I believe that will change in the year or two in the meantime silicone mask & flip cover are your best friend.
Maybe they had idea to open service centers and offer warranty to their products for their European customers!?
That would be nice… I have Mi4i and Redmi Pro with “some problems”.
yes, and pay 50-60$ for that, wait 2-3 months and meybe you will get it back…or not.
but, nop…even if i would try that, their support centre is telling me that they do not offer international warrany.
honorbuy, where it have been bought, does not fix hardware problems for free, even if it is just 2 months old…so, yes….Xiaomi, one more time.
That happens with every Chinese phones that don’t sell outside China officially.
You’re buying from a reseller and expect the manufacturer to honor the warranty.
I’m afraid you’re missing a point here my friend.
If you ever are going to buy any other Chinese phone from a reseller, whether is a Xiaomi, Meizu, Oppo, or any other brand that doesn’t sells in your country, just keep in mind that you have no warranty and return to China is not really a viable option.
Good luck with your next phone
tnx for that…
but, here is the ting… you see, i am buying Samsung also from resellers, and gues what….it does have warranty anyway.
Xiaomi shoud offer warranty for their products, no mather where did we bought them.
i am ready to pay shipping costs back and fort, but, Xiaomi will not take my device, once it got out of China it does not exist for them.
The difference between Samsung and most of the Chinese phones is that the first one sells worldwide and that’s why they honor the warranty everywhere in the world.
The second ones don’t sell outside China (most of them don’t) and that’s why you get nothing from them.
I am very aware of that… That’s why i will be always writing about that problems, to make others know what they could get in to with buying this.
Smart people learn from others mistakes, i guess i had to do it on harder way…
I’m adding informations that came from my experience as well.
Many people from this blog made mistake at the beginning, buying stuff that made them regret of it.
I did it too, a couple of times to be honest.
That doesn’t make us dumb, that makes us inexperienced.
I wanted to clarify that it’s not a Xiaomi problem, but a Chinese phone problem.
This is a risk that most of us takes while buying from a reseller.
When someone reads our conversation he will understand that buying Chinese means no warranty, no return.
Keep following this blog and the comment section you learn which brand gives you more confidence , which reseller is more reliable to help you out with your decision to make the risk a calculated one.
I made mistakes in the past, but I’m still and I’ll probably will always buy Chinese phones.
