Return of the MT6580 in the new Homtom HT27

Homtom HT27

Seems like the ultra budget MT6580 has more than nine lives, because it still haunts the market spreading the non-4G mentality among the users. Latest one in the long line of cheap smartphones with this chipset is the new Homtom HT27.

Homtom HT27 looks fairly standard from the hardware standpoint for the ultra budget devices with MT6580, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB of storage, 5,5-inch display with HD resolution, 8 Mpix rear camera, 5 Mpix selfie front camera, dual SIM support, 3000 mAh battery capacity and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as the OS.

But it’s trying to win us over with some special features like the CNC crafted metallic frame and pretty interesting non-slip “CD pattern” on the back plastic cover. Or the rear fingeprint scanner with extra added functions for various actions, that’s in general still not a given equipment in the ultra budget range.

We can expect the Homtom HT27 to be priced quite aggresively, presale offers in some e-shops have it already with $69.99 price tag. If you would want to know more about the model then just visit the official website.

70$ isn’t aggressive at all. For that price we would have to get like 64 bits cpu, 2gb RAM and 16gb internal memory.

That its issue. MT6580 is enough for simple things. 1GB I’m not sure it can even boot modern versions of Android…

IMO 1GB phones should go the way of 512MB phones, I.E. the way of the dodo. There is nothing fun(ny) in having your keyboard force closing in the midst of writing a message…
