‘Emdoor’ demos MT8173-powered laptops that run Android and RemixOS

RemixOS is a really interesting Android fork that makes devices running on it a bit more desktop-friendly than just media consumption devices. We’ve seen a bunch of these from China’s Cube, and it looks like there’s going to be more RemixOS on the way.

Emdoor, a manufacturer of Chinese tablets and 2-in-1s, demoed a new MediaTek MT8173-powered tablet/laptop hybrid that can run both, Android and RemixOS.

Have a look right here.

Gizchina News of the week

Emdoor currently offer two version in this series — the EM-T8516 and EM-T8513. The only points of difference are the display size and resolution. Besides that, both feature the following:

  • MediaTek MT8173 SoC
  • 1GB or 2GB RAM
  • 16/32/64/128GB RAM + microSD card slot
  • 2 mega-pixel front camera
  • 10,000mAh battery
  • 802.11 b/g/n/ac WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS (via MT6630 chipset)

Considering that these are the kind of devices that don’t cost too much, RemixOS is something that could see a bit of traction in the coming months.
