HTC has been doing quite well for themselves between Google’s Pixel devices and the HTC Vive. Their own smartphones however haven’t been doing nearly as well, or even well at all. And even though we all know why this is, HTC is still apparently clueless about it.
Their flagship devices don’t have any distinctive features, and their mid-rangers are way overpriced. This trend continues with their new mid-ranger, the recently leaked HTC X10. Decent chipset, no distinctive features, very high price, it successfully ticks all the boxes for a HTC mid-ranger.
Gizchina News of the week
The leaks reveal some of the handset’s key specs, including a Helio P10 chipset, a 5.5-inch full HD display, a 13MP rear camera, and 3GB RAM. Most of these specs were already predicted a while back. Add to that the unattractive price of RMB 2,000 (about $287) and the lack of a fingerprint sensor, and you’ve got a recipe for another unsuccessful device.
So what are your thoughts on HTC’s latest and not greatest? Would you pick this up over something similar, or is the HTC name worth that much to you? Tell us your thoughts down below in the comments section.
I like how it looks. But not at that price and with those specs… Is it too difficult for others to put dual front speakers at a reasonable price?!
helio p10 minus finger print scanner? @287$, oh my, htc wtf?? even if they slash the price to 187, it’ll still be too high. I mean, similarly packed meizu M5 with +1GB RAM is much cheaper and Xiaomi with the redmi note series, ie, RN 3 pro, RN 4 and redmi pro all are way better and cheaper with better features .. but hey, maybe there are HTC die hards who’ll take it whole heartedly who don’t mind being ripped off
While the specs may seem bad for the price HTC has some of the best software for any phone company to date. People port HTC sense to phones to this day. I used it on my CyanogenMod 12.1 installation on my redmi note two and it was much better than miui.
People port anything to a lot of things, doesn’t mean that HTC sense is best, that’s just your opinion
No shit Shirlock. It is my opinion just like yours is just yours. They are equal until you can point out a legitimate flaw in my logic. Most people pay more money for ease of use. That’s a proven fact.
