Late last year a mystery LeEco smartphone was revealed through leaks, nothing new there except that this phone boasted dual rear cameras. The then leaks pointed at 2 smartphones with varying specs from a flagship model with 2K 5.7-inch display and Snapdragon 821 chipset, to a mid ranger with 2.5Ghz chipset, 1080 display and 4GB RAM.
Today a third dual camera phone joins these devices and this could be the most affordable of the bunch.
The leak comes from an online store that is listing the entry-level LeEco at just 1000 Yuan ($144) and with hardware that could prove to be a problem for rival devices from Xiaomi and Meizu.
Gizchina News of the week
Named the Le2S Dual, the phone is said to come with a 5.5-inch display, Mediatek Helio X25 chipset, 2 x 13 mega-pixel cameras on the rear and a front facing 12 mega-pixel camera.
In comparison the Xiaomi Redmi Pro (which we reviewed here) costs from $185 with 3GB RAM and 64GB memory and lower spec Helio X20 chipset. It’s unknown that this this if the phone will see an official India launch, but it is sure to arrive online through resellers not long after it launches.
HOLY!
LeMax 2 is only 1250 Yuan now. I need a new phone cos my Mi4 is on its last legs. Not sure to go for the LeMax2 or the older, larger screen LeMax1 (also just reduced). Or maybe even the Mi Max. What do you reckon Andy?
Sticking with older leaks, it may have an helio x27: it would make sense since, from what I remember (correct me if I’m wrong), mediatek introduced native support for dual cameras with this chipset… However, redmi pro still may have the advantages of 3.5 jack and bigger battery, not to mention cool1 that has a snapdragon chipset other the others… Don’t know, maybe leeco will surprise us once more, let’s wait and see…
LeEco is known to fit 5.7 inch phones with tiny batteries…
