Here on Gizchina, we rarely talk about Coolpad because they’re… Well, just really mundane and boring to follow. They launch new devices every now and then, but said devices are usually just cookie cutter devices. And the new Coolpad Conjr manages to be extra disappointing, which is a pretty impressive feat.
Now in some respects, the Conjr is actually an above average device. It has a decent amount of RAM at 3GB, the device looks good (though fairly generic), and it’s even got OIS! But then, the bad news pours in and the device’s situation goes from average to terrible, fast.
Gizchina News of the week
The chipset powering the Conjr is the dismal MT6735CP featuring four Cortex-A53 cores running at a lowly 1GHz. On top of that, you’ve also got a weak Mali T720MP2 GPU and only 16GB of storage. The 5-inch display is a HD unit, but it’s not going to benefit the small 2,500mAh battery much.
Back to the decent specs, the rear camera is a standard 13MP unit, but it’s got OIS, which is good. There’s also the 8MP front camera which features an LED flash for those in the dark selfies. The thing weighs 148g, and its dimensions are 143 x 72 x 8.66 mm.
Overall, it’s not the worst device out there, but these certainly aren’t specs we want to see on devices in 2017. The pricing is also left ambiguous, but the expected pricepoint of “below $200” doesn’t really sound good. What are your thoughts though? Tell us in the comments below.
