Xiaomi is certainly building up suspense around its new flagship model – Xiaomi Mi 6. The Chinese electronics company which reportedly surpassed $1 billion in revenue in India in 2016 has produced robust and reliable smartphones. Following up on the Mi 5 of 2016, the Xiaomi Mi 6 may be launched as early as March this year — a couple of months from now!
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to harness the computing power of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, which is 35 percent smaller and uses 25 percent less power than its predecessor, the Snapdragon 820. That 25 percent less power consumption clubbed with a 4,000 mAh battery will up the longevity of Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone.
Xiaomi is expected to go all out when it comes to loading the Mi 6 with features. A physical home button will come with a built-in fingerprint sensor (Ultrasonic? Time will tell). Rapid wireless charging will give up to 50 percent charge or more within 30 minutes.
Gizchina News of the week
When it comes to the display, the Xiaomi Mi 6 hasn’t been left hanging high and dry. A 5.5-inch screen will be packed with 600 PPI at a resolution of 4096 x 2190 pixels. This high resolution combined with the optical image stabilisation on the rear camera is expected to deliver pro-like video quality.
Xiaomi Mi 6 is expected to be launched in two variants. The “standard” Mi 6 will feature 4 GB RAM and 128 GB of internal memory and Mi 6 Pro, the flagship model, will carry 6 GB RAM and a whopping 256 GB of internal memory. Moreover, Mi 6 Pro will also sport a curved display not unlike Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, and it’s close cousin, the Mi Note 2.
Dolby-Xiaomi Tie Up
Adding fuel to the fire is the report that Xiaomi has struck up a deal with Dolby Laboratories to use Dolby’s Advanced Audio Coding compression technology on all their devices. This could give the Xiaomi Mi 6 great audio capabilities and save memory at the same time.
The smartphone community is ripe with speculations about the features and gizmos which will accompany Xiaomi’s latest entry. The Mi 6 Pro could be priced as low as $360 making it an instant hit if it lives up to its name.
Low build quality? O_O
I ordered SO MANY Xiaomi phones and their builds are excellent… None of what I ordered cracked or bent etc..
All perfect for daily usage.
Mi3 Mi4 Mi4c Redmi note 2 and 3 MTK version Mi5 and now Mi Note 2.
Maybe I forgot a model or two… I think well as the one with upgradable battery. I think Mi2 not sure tbh.. very old phone S4 CPU I don’t recall..
You would say that the MI5 was well build meaning not having issues described by Andy and other reviewers: ”volume control and a power button. Both metal buttons are loose. The volume rocker is loose to the touch, while the power button looks as though it might eventually fall off at some point”
and
”the home button is where the fingerprint scanner is located and it is simply terrible to look at. I don’t like the shape, the action doesn’t feel all that premium”
Well the volume thing and what not.. I don’t look at them. Maybe I don’t care that much about these little things… And yes I hate the fingerprint being on the front not back.. I love Mi Max and it is amazing fingerprint. 🙁
Loose or not they never fall off of any of my mobiles not just Mi5..
In fact not any of my phones at all not just Xiaomi.. Maybe because I take good care of them or maybe because I change my phone every 6months to a year at most :S
I love the fingerprint scanner
Since when does “Terrible to look at” means poor build quality? You can hate the Mi5 for it’s design, I did and I am Xiaomi fan. But that doesn’t make it a bad phone.
It’s been 1 year for my Redmi prime 2 and still no issues with regards to build quality
My Mi4, Mi3, Mi2s, Redmi Note and Mi Pad 2 are all still kicking none of them have had a single issue. All of them still receive MIUI updates.
I had a Redmi 1S until three months ago and I changed it because I got bored and I needed a more powerfull phone already, but it still works perfectly. I even bought a new battery in case I needed to change it but I didn’t even get to use it because the phone was still working fine, it gave me two days of battery easy. It was cheap when I bought it, similar specs than the first MoTo G, but still, I could still use it if I wanted, because it’s in perfect conditions. Besides, still receives updates…
Needless to say I’m not a heavy user and I’m careful with it (even though that phone suffered 2 or 3 fallings). But seriously, if you think Xiaomi has low build quality, you simply have not had one.
