Doogee sent over some details of its first dual camera phone this morning, and it has me wonder if this is good news or not?
First of all, the Doogee Shoot 1 is Doogee’s first dual camera smartphone and from my recollection, it is also the first camera-centric handset from the KVD owned phone maker. We’re seeing plenty of smaller Chinese brands announced dual camera phones over the past few months, and like them, Doogee’s rear cameras are designed specifically to offer more depth to images by i.e. a Bokeh effect. The idea being the main 13 mega-pixel Samsung sensor takes care of the main image while the secondary 8 mega-pixel sensor deals with the blurred background.
Actually, the 13MP + 8MP dual rear camera configuration is actually way above what similar brands are offering, but what has us worried is the claimed lightweight of the phone.
Gizchina News of the week
In Doogee’s latest post they claim that the Shoot 1 will weigh just 165g which equals 28 Yuan coins and is about 30g heavier than a wrist watch. But will this lightweight equal lower quality materials and build quality? Has Doogee managed to retain such a featherweight with lower quality materials?
In Doogee’s defence, they have admitted that their Shoot 1 phone might not feel premium, but the materials they have chosen (plastic) are of a high quality to retain a decent build while maintaining a low price. More importantly (for some customers) the use of plastic also means a lower retail price meaning that rather high-end dual camera config can be had for only $99.99!
The Doogee Shoot also features a front 8 mega-pixel camera, 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 FHD display, and 3300mAh battery. Check the Doogee Shoot 1 out in action in the video below.
