China’s Gionee have announced a new mid-range phone for their home market in the Gionee Steel 2.
The Steel 2 comes with a 4000mAh battery, and features a 5-inch display. Have a look at the full specifications below.

It’ll be available in Jazz Gold and Gold Black colour variants.

As you can see from the spec set above, GizChina readers outside of China will probably not be too frustrated about not having this phone available anywhere else besides China.
The phone costs 1299 yuan in China, which translates to about $187. Not sure what Gionee are after with this one, but their track record says that they know a thing or two about the offline market.

China market phone. Some of the recent market failures now coming through to resellers at bargain basement prices (PPtv, Ramos, Ivargo) were very highly priced domestically. High price is part of the appeal, who wants a cheap phone?
