ZTE Axon 7 Android 7.0 Coming Later Than Hoped

A couple of months ago, ZTE announced that its top of the range ZTE Axon 7 would finally receive an update to Android 7.0 Nougat later this month. Unfortunately, the company has now decided that this might not be the case.

According to ZTE Germany (the same source who reported the initial report), the upgrade to Nougat for the Axon 7 will be released later than expected because, at present, the build doesn’t meet final launch requirements.

Gizchina News of the week

The Chinese company claims that the upgrade to Android 7.0 should be released by the end of this quarter, so it could arrive in March . The phone brand has recently opened a Nougat Beta Program for US users but registrations are no longer being accepted.

So for those of us with the Axon 7, which really does need an update, we will be waiting for a little longer. The good news is that the final release could include support for Google Daydream and might even jump version 7.0 right to 7.1.1.

They need time to fill it with bloatware, lock it down, and make it so its even harder to upgrade in the future so they can abandon it even faster.

Have they said anything about the axon pro? There was some sort of update guarantee with the phone that they seem to be breaking by not updating it to 7.
