Google has officially announced the next maintenance release for Android Nougat – Android 7.1.2.
This release, Google claims, introduces optimisations and enhancements and is also intended to fix a number of bugs. Bugs that may have been responsible for the halting of the HTC 10 Nougat update.
The beta version will be rolled out to Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus Player and Pixel C for now. Nexus 6P is also on the cards for an update in the near future.
Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 on the other hand seem to have met the end of the line. Google’s Nexus support page lists the October 2016 release as the last guaranteed update Android for both phones.

How To Enroll For Beta Testing

As of December 5, 2016 Android Nougat was running on just 0.4 percent of Android devices. Being an incremental maintenance release, we don’t expect it to pack a bunch of new features. The final release of Android 7.1.2 should be up for grabs within a few months. We will keep you posted, as always.
