I guess we all expect to see the real potential of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC but this isn’t the only chipset the company has high hopes for this year. According to a recent leak in Weibo, Qualcomm is working hard to maintain its position in the mid-range market, by introducing new SoC’s wiith impressive specs.
The new chipsets will be called Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 635 respectively, aimed to take the place of the Snapdragon 625 SoC. They will both use an 8-core arrangement with Cortex A53 processors, offering better power management and heat reduction.

Qualcomm however also plans to develop an even more powerful Snapdragon 660 SoC, which will be manufactured using Samsung’s 14nm LPP process. It will have 8 cores (4 Cortex A53 and 4 Cortex A73) and it will be unveiled sometime around September.
Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have already expressed interest in this last SoC and will launch several smartphones with it.
