Google has just announced that its Google Assitant will come to more phones next week, but which Chinese smartphone is likely to receive this must wanted feature first?
The Google Assistant was launched on the Google Pixel and Pixel XL last year, and since that time has been the ‘must have’ feature for anyone with an Android smartphone. Over the past few months there have been hacks and accidental releases of Google Assistant on non-Pixel phones, but they have all been deactivated.
The good news is that Google has announced that from next week Google Services will be updated and Google Assistant will be coming to certain devices. Phones with Android 6.0+ and Android 7.0+ could be eligible for the updates, but so far we only know of a few phones that will receive the update.
Gizchina News of the week
From the official Google announcement we know that certain HTC, LG and Samsung devices will be eligible for the update, but what about our Chinese smartphones?
We feel fairly certain that Chinese devices running close to stock Android on Qualcomm chipsets are likely to get the update. So we’re looking at the OnePlus phones here with great anticipation.
Xiaomi, Huawei, Nubia and ZTE phones also seem rather likely to get the new voice-activated personal assistant, but this is all guess work for now and we won’t know for sure for a few more days.
Which Chinese Android phones do you think will receive Google Assistant in the coming update?
