Xiaomi Working On Devices With AI

In a recent press conference, Xiaomi’s Lei Jun has spoken of his plans to release products with artificial intelligence.

During the conference the Xiaomi boss spoke about the main goals of his company which include the accelerating the development of artificial intelligence, to develop retail experiences and to schedule more launches in non-Chinese markets.

For this post let’s focus on the point of artificial intelligence (although the fact that Xiaomi products will launch in more countries outside of China is very exciting). AI is the stuff of Science Fiction, but we already use basic AI on a daily basis with Google Assistant, Siri and Amazon’s Alexa. Xiaomi’s AI could launch a lot sooner than we are all expecting!

Gizchina News of the week

To speed up the development of AI Xiaomi plans to boost it’s development team buy as much as 50%, so we could see a MIUI based personal assistant come to Xiaomi phones in the very near future.

Lei Jun also commented that he believes the PC will be completely replaced by the smartphone in just 3-5 years time and that artificial intelligence will be a common, useful, feature.

What would you like to see from Xiaomi’s own SIRI rival?
