It’s a good time to be a smartphone customer in India, especially for those looking to buy smartphones that don’t burn a hole in their pocket yet offer a good experience. Following yesterday’s launch of Xiaomi’s Redmi 4A, Coolpad is set to start selling the Note 5 Lite in the country. Starting 12 PM today, the budget handset will be available for purchase from Amazon India for a price of Rs. 8,199, or roughly $125.
The Coolpad Note 5 Lite is priced around $40 less than the Note 5, with lesser specs to go along with the lower cost (a MediaTek chip being the most notable downgrade). In fact, it would be okay to think of the Note 5 Lite as an option between the Redmi 4A (which doesn’t go on sale in India until March 23rd) and both the Redmi Note 4 and Coolpad Note 5. It doesn’t offer much of an upgrade over the Note 3 Lite, which might turn away a few potential buyers.
