Meizu works on optical fingerprint sensor technology (rumors)


We’ve seen this next-gen of fingerprint recognition tech popping out of every possible leak during the past few months, but now it seems that things are getting serious. This new optical fingerprint recognition technology is similar to what the image above looks like – i.e. it’s taken from an iPhone 8 concept, since Apple is already pioneering in this sector, trying to use it in their upcoming iPhone.

According to latest rumors however, Meizu is also working on a similar technology for their own flagship models, and there’s a screenshot of an article forwarded by Meizu’s VP, Li Nan to a group of friends that basically confirms it. The article is all about Apple’s next-gen optical fingerprint sensor project and most of the people involved are already working on the development of a similar tech by Meizu. According to Meizu’s VP, Li Nan this technology is the next big thing in the fingerprint scanner sector, so all we have to do is wait to see Meizu’s first relevant smartphone that will use this type of technology.
