Asus plans to use Mediatek chipsets on future Zenfones?

It seems that Samsung’s decision to claim all of the available supply stock of the Snapdragon 835 SoC for themselves has forced a lot of manufacturers – including ASUS, to head to Mediatek for their next-gen smartphones.

So far Samsung has already stocked all the available SD835 chipsets until the end of May for their Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ flagship models, meaning that if ASUS were to wait then they could probably launch their new Zenfone models by end of June probably early July! This would bring their phones really close to theĀ release of Appleā€™s next-generation iPhones, which could significantly affect the success of ASUSā€™s new ZenFones due to the stronger competition.

It’s not the first time ASUS decides to work closely with Mediatek on this. After all the Chinese company has strong ties withĀ former Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) CEO Rick Tsai who is now working with MediaTek as its co-CEO. Stay tuned Zenfone fans, we may have news for you regarding an upcoming smartphone during the next weeks.
