While we all wait with baited breath for the launch of the Xiaomi Mi6, we might also have another Xiaomi launch surprise in store for us!
Images of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 have been published on Chinese news channels today, sparking the rumour that today could be the launch of not just the flagship Mi6 but also an update to the large budget phablet.
The original Xiaomi Mi Max was a surprise launch device from Xiaomi and remains the largest smartphone that the phone maker has launched to date, the updated model appears to retain a similar large form factor with a few touches to design and build.

The new Xioami Mi Max 2 is believed to retain a 6.44-inch 1920 x 1080 display making it perfect for watching movies, while the processing package will get an update to Snapdragon 626 and 4GB RAM making it a great device for mobile gaming too, and if that’s not enough a Snapdragon 660 plus 6GB RAM version is also rumoured!
Updates continue with a new 12 megapixel Sony IMX378 rear camera, 5 megapixel front camera while each version of the phablet will retain a large 5000mAh battery. The Mi Max 2 image also shows that the new phone will have a dual LED flash and rear fingerprint scanner, great additions over the original version!
Pricing for the Xioami Mi Max 2 is rumoured to start at 1499 Yuan rising to 1699 Yuan!
