Earlier last month ZTE officially launched the Axon 7s, a sucessor to the Axon 7 but not the flagship we were hoping from ZTE. And now, another smartphone has popped up on TENAA, the ZTE A2018, which is probably the code name for Axon 8. But what’s more surprising are the specs on this one.
The spec sheet suggests a quad core processor clocked at 2.15GHz. This might be the Snapdragon 820 or the 821, but this would be no different than the Axon 7s. This is coupled with 4GB of RAM and storage options of 64GB, 128GB and 256GB along with support for external storage.
Gizchina News of the week
It sports a 2k OLED display, same as the Axon 7s. The ZTE A2018 resembles the Axon 7s in all the design aspects. It may even be mistaken for another variant of the Axon 7s. There are the usual stereo speaker grills on both the top and bottom of the display. The back hosts a dual camera setup with 20MP and 12MP sensors along with 1.2x optical zoom. The front houses an 8MP sensor. The fingerprint sensor lies below the camera setup on the back with antenna lines running on both the bottom and top of the back. Weighing about 170g, the dimensions of the phone stand at 151.7 × 75 × 7.7mm.
Since this phone has been certified by TENAA, it seems likely that we will see a launch very soon. But we cannot confirm whether this actually is the Axon 8 or not. Stay tuned for more!
