The Moto Z Play was one of the best phones on the market when it came to battery life. The smartphone sported a 3,510mAh battery, that got you through more than a day and a half of power usage. But the next iteration, the Moto Z2 Play, will sacrifice the battery for a thinner design.
Lenovo plans to shave off the extra body that was present on the Z Play to achieve a more thinner design, much like the original Moto Z. The battery is going to be downgraded from 3,510mAh to 3,000mAh. Renowned for it’s amazing battery life, the Z2 Play might not be able to provide the same experience as its predecessor, with the maximum listed usage time coming down from 50 to a not-so-impressive 30 hours.
The Z Play was the least thin of the 3 Z models. It’s going to receive a millimeter worth of reduction in depth and a 20gm reduction in weight. Pretty close to the Moto Z’s 5.19mm thickness.
Gizchina News of the week
The Moto Z2 Play is set to receive upgrades in all other department. It’ll sport a Snapdragon 626 clocked at 2.2GHz paired with Adreno 506, not much of a deviation from its predecessor. The Z2 will feature 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. In the camera department, Moto has gone as far as to use a 12MP f/1.7 module in place of the 16MP f/2.0 module to increase image quality.
The selfie shooter is the same 5MP sensor. It features a 5.5 inch SUPER AMOLED display, which is constant in the line of the Z series to make sure that the Moto Mods stay compatible.
There have been multiple leaks of the Moto Z2 Play and the upcoming Moto phones, the Moto C and Moto E4/E4+ which indicate a launch right around the corner. Stay tuned for more!
