The Doogee Y6 Max has been one of the latest devices being released from the Chinese phone maker. The Y6 Max sports a massive 6.5-inch and is priced very competitively at $139.99 on online stores like Aliexpress. That said, how does it actually feel to use a large 6.5-inch phone in your daily life? Let’s find out together!
Before talking about the Y6 Max’s user experience, let’s have a quick round up of the phone specs.
The DOOGEE Y6 Max comes with a 6.5-inch Full HD display and a metal body, it’s powered by a MediaTek MT6750T octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5Ghz with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone also packs a big 4300mAh battery that can be charged at 5V/2A and features an improved Hi-Fi DAC for better sound reproduction.
The DOOGEE Y6 Max sports two hybrid card slots, so you can either use two SIMs or a SIM and a MicroSD card. It supports 4G LTE networks and can reach speeds of up to 300Mpbs. Camera wise, we find a 13MP shooter on the back and a 5MP front-facing camera.
With the specs out of the way, let’s see how it actually feels to use the Y6 Max. The first thing you notice when you get it out of the box is how massive the display and thus the phone is, it won’t be surprising if its as big as your whole hand.
While that might scare some people who are used to smaller devices, having a big 6.5-inch phone at your disposal is pretty much like bringing a small home theater with you wherever you go, which with its high quality speakers also give a better viewing experience.
Gizchina News of the week
On such a large display it’s a pleasure to watch movies, play games or read ebooks, sure you could do that on an Amazon Kindle or a tablet, but why would you want to bring two separate devices when you can have an all-in-one?
Battery wise, the 4300mAh capacity battery gives enough juice for a day or average use and with the included 5V/2A charger you can charge it relatively quickly.
The Doogee Y6 Max with its 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage also ensures you don’t run out of storage, at least on the short run, either way you can add a 128GB microSD and have tons of storage for your movies, photos and music.
Doogee’s Y6 Max runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, so the OS is pretty stable, games run fine and there are some additional features for one-hand use; i.e. you can slide the touch buttons from left to right to enter into one-hand mode.
Overall, the Doogee Y6 Max is a solid phone for those who are looking for a phablet, its big dimensions might make it hard to handle at the beginning but you should get used to it after a short time. The phone is available at the DOOGEE Joanna store on Aliexpress for just $129.99 from May 14th to May 21st. So head over there if you’re looking to buy a large screen phone that won’t empty your wallet.
