The OnePlus 5 is one of the most anticipated phones of the year. After churning out flagship killers since the OnePlus One, OnePlus has outdone itself. After a series of leaks and rumors, the latest post on reddit indicates the presence of the Sony IMX398 sensor.
Although the post says that the information is correct, there is no proof of it being genuine. This might just be another rumor or even the actual camera setup on the OnePlus 5. The previous listing on AnTuTu stated the camera as a 16MP setup, similar to the one on the OnePlus 3T. The only difference would be the sensor. the 3T uses the Sony IMX298 sensor whereas the post on reddit says that the 5 will sport a Sony IMX 398 sensor. If the rumor is to be believed, the sensor will have 1.12µm pixels, same as the OnePlus 3T’s.
Gizchina News of the week
The IMX398 is the same sensor that is present on the OPPO R9S and the OPPO F3 Plus, both of which sport a 16MP sensor. There is no evidence to support the reddit user’s claim. There is no news as to whether the OnePlus 5 will sport a dual camera or a single camera setup.
Apart from the rumors surrounding the camera, the phone is also speculated to be powered by the Snapdragon 835 SoC, 6GB of RAm following in the footsteps of its elder sibling, the OnePlus 3T and 64 GB of internal storage. The phone is also supposed to come with Android Nougat 7.1.1 out of the box.
