Last night Carl Pei posted a cryptic tweet which has had OnePlus and tech fans wondering just what is going to happen to the headphone jack on the new OnePlus phone.
Pei simply Tweeted “Why did the headphone jack cross the road?” in response to Tweets about rumours the OnePlus 5 would be another flagship phone that ditches the old 3.5mm audio route.
The odd response has had people wonder what exactly this means, but to us here at GizChina the answer seems pretty clear.
By referencing that old “Why did the Chicken cross the road?” joke he is actually asking how do we move on to new technologies? How do we get past features that we’ve already used for so long and move onto something new.
It’s also no secret that Pei is a big fan of what Apple does with their products and as they’ve already paved the way, it’s highly likely that OnePlus will follow.
That’s not to say that you won’t be able to use your 3.5mm headphones with the new OnePlus 5, but it’s highly likely you’ll need a USB Type C adaptor.
