Andy Rubin’s Essential ready to be unveiled on May 30

Andy Rubin (the notorious Android co-founder) has been working on his own notion of a special smartphone for quite sometime now and he has decided to call it Essential. The device has been the subject of rumors and speculations for the past few months, but it looks like this is going to end soon.

Gizchina News of the week

Today “Essential” has spoken (or tweeted) for the first time, and as you can see it’s promising “something big” for May 30. First thing that comes to mind is obviously the official unveiling date for that smartphone, but do keep in mind that there’s a chance it will be something else entirely. After all they may choose to begin with another type of gadget or… so.

All we know so far about this device is that it will have bezel less display (larger than 5,5 inches), metal frame and ceramic back, hinting that it will be a direct Xiaomi Mi MIX rival when it’s officially unveiled. Let’s wait until the 30th of May and see what happens.
