It’s a good day today for Motorola fans I guess, after the official unveiling of the new Moto Z2 Play model, that comes equipped with some impressive specs and full Moto Mods compatibility.
The new model is thinner by about 1mm compared to its predecessor, but its frame retains the same dimensions, ensuring that it will be fully compatible with last year’s Moto Mods but also some new ones that were unveiled today.
According to Motorola, the Moto Z2 Play has water resistant nano coating that protects it against minor spills, and a metal frame that ensures significant durability. The Moto Z2 Play boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD and comes equipped with a Snapdragon 626 SoC with a choice of 3GB or 4GB RAM and 32GB or 64GB storage, expandable via microSD slot.
It features a 12 megapixel camera with dual pixel phase detection autofocus and f/1.7 aperture on its back, that offers 4K video recording capability, and a 5 megapixel shooter in front, with f/2.2 aperture and wide-angle lens. The Moto Z2 offers full support for dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, A-GPS/GLONASS, NFC, USB Type-C and a 3.5mm audio jack thankfully!
Gizchina News of the week
As we mentioned before, it comes fully compatible with all previous Moto Mods (Hasselblad True Zoom, JBL SoundBoost, Mophie Juice Pack, and Incipio Offgrid) but wait, there are some new ones this year!
Moto GamePad
This one is for the gamers out there I guess. It transforms the phone into a handheld gaming console, complete with dual analog joysticks and D-pad controls, offering a 1,035mAh built-in battery.
Moto TurboPower Pack
The Moto TurboPower pack comes with a 3,490mAh battery and can fast-charge your phone in under 70 minutes 😉
JBL SoundBoost 2
The successor to the JBL SoundBoost is now splash proof and offers a set of two powerful 3W stereo speakers on the back of the Moto Z2 Play, including a built-in kickstand, and an extra 1,000mAh battery inside.
The Moto Z2 Play will be available in Brazil starting today for R$ 1,999 and by mid-June it will hit global markets.
Why adding a gamepad for such a weak SoC? , makes no sense .
SD 626 it is not an impressive spec.
