On the 1st of June, the Nubia Z17 was announced, with features on par with every flagship on the market. What set the phone aside from it’s rivals was the presence of Quick Charge 4.0, making it the first smartphone to have the feature.
The Nubia Z17 is a phone with beefy specs. It made headlines for being the first phone to sport Quick Charge 4.0. But as it turns out, you won’t be able to harness Quick Charge 4.0. The reason, there’s no Quick Charge 4.0 charger. This was revealed by the Nubia customer care.
Gizchina News of the week
What is surprising, is that there are reports saying that Qualcomm has not developed any chargers that support Quick Charge 4.0 even though the Snapdragon 835 that resides on major flagships has QC 4.0.
What does this mean for the Nubia Z17 users? Well, currently since there is no suitable charger for QC 4.0, the Z17 will be shipping with QC 3.0 chargers. A blunder like this does not seem good when you are trying to get a flagship on the market. This is similar to Huawei claiming to have UFS on their P10 devices and in reality having eMMC.
If, in the future you wish to use the QC 4.0 technology, you’ll have to grab an after market QC 4.0 charger, which will probably hit the stores very soon. Until then, the Nubia Z17 users will have to make do with Quick Charge 3.0.
but but.. QC. 3.0 already feels old… Who uses QC 3.0 these days anyway.. 🙁
