Recently, we had reported a leak which showed the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. In the leak, it was clearly visible that there is no fingerprint scanner on the back as well as the front, leading us to believe that Samsung succeeded in embedding the fingerprint scanner in the display.
But from what the South Korean website Naver reports, Samsung has chosen to not embed it in the display. According to Naver, they received information from a Samsung official, who stated,
“WE made every effort to install a display-integrated fingerprint sensor on Galaxy Note 8, but we decided not to install it on this strategic phone due to various technical limitations such as security.”
Gizchina News of the week
The rumors about the embedded fingerprint scanner started off back when the Samsung Galaxy S8 was expected to house a fingerprint scanner embedded in it, which it did not and rather opted for an oddly placed sensor on the back. Then came along the rumors that showed the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 with a dual camera setup.
There is no word from Samsung as to how they plan to implement the fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy Note 8. The leaks say a completely different story from what the report from Naver says. But right now, all we can do is speculate. Watch this space for more.
