OnePlus 2 owners, forget about Nougat update (at least officially)

Nope, it’s not gonna happen guys. According to OnePlus, your beloved OnePlus 2 flagship killer won’t be getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update – not ever, with the company mentioning that:

“Our customer service has been telling customers this for a little while”

… and added that:

“We’re happy about what we’re doing with software. We already confirmed Android O will come for the OnePlus 3 and 3T. So this isn’t new and we think people were aware of it.”

Oh and if you wonder about WHY? The company replied that:

“When we built the OnePlus 2 we didn’t have the software infrastructure team in place we do now.”

Anyway, that’s what the officials say. I am pretty sure that 3rd party ROMS for OnePlus 2 will be available soon (if not already) with Android 7.0 Nougat.

    3-rd party 7.x ROMs were available since… forever for OP1 and 2.

the thing abt 3rd party ROM is.. ppl paid OnePlus expecting the support to come from OnePlus.

No hardware vendor supports the hardware for infinite amount of time.
The longevity of support considered as “normal” is 15-18 months.
Exception is Apple, but they are gimping the older HW with newer updates so I don’t count them.
