With just a few days to the official release of UMIDIGI Z1 and Z1 Pro the company finally released one of the most expected pieces of information about the phones today. And the result is somewhat…underwhelming to put it mildly. Because it essentially takes (almost) all of the previous leaked info and throws it out of the window.
Remember how the UMIDIGI Z1/Z1 Pro were slated as the “flagship models” and “flagship killers” ? How our jaws dropped at the projected $300/$500 price tags ? Well you can forget all of the above, because it’s clearly not true anymore. Both of the versions will get as the CPU the octa-core Mediatek MT6757 aka Helio P20 clocked at 2.3 GHz. It’s a good processor, but not even close to the high-end or flagship power, not to mention the projected prices. It’s just mind boggling they are calling it new flagship when you realize the UMIDIGI Z/Z Pro carried the more powerful Helio X27 four months ago…
Gizchina News of the week
And the bad news just keep coming, because of delivery delay issues UMIDIGI decided to go with just 6 GB RAM inside the Z1 Pro model instead of the originally announced 8 GB RAM. Rest of the specs stays the same for nwo with dual-camera setup, Android 7.0 Nougat and fingerprint scanner.
Personally i think the pricing will need to be adjusted heavily for the UMIDIGI Z1/Z1 Pro, because in the current state there is no way to justify the announced pricing levels and i can see $200 as the reasonable ceiling going forward. We will know more on June 19th, until then you can still try your luck on the UMIDIGI website with $9.99 subscription and giveaway event.
