Successfully backed Indiegogo campaign product — GPD Pocket 7.0-inch laptop — appears to have been listed on the online retailer site Geekbuying. Thus you can now pre-order this somewhat innovative device for just $495.99. Since you might interested in getting one yourself, let’s go through some of its main selling points!
The GPD Pocket is a “full on” laptop in an incredibly small form factor, indeed it’s even smaller than the obsolete netbooks that are now a far memory. Specs wise, the GPD Pocket is considered an UMPC (Ultra-mobile PC) and has such it comes with quite good hardware.
Gizchina News of the week
We go from the Intel Atom x7-Z8750 processor clocked at 1.6Ghz (turbo boosted to 2.56Ghz) to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of eMMc internal storage. The display on the Pocket is 7-inch big and sports Full HD resolution, it is also touch screen, which is a good thing considering there’s not an actual touchpad below the keyboard, but only a Thinkpad-style pointing stick instead.
As far as battery goes, the GPD Pocket comes with a big 7000mAh capacity battery which on paper should result in about 12 hours of autonomy, definitely more than what you’d expect on a similarly priced full-sized laptop.
You can currently pre-order the GPD Pocket over at Geekbuying for $495.99, where you’ll also find the full specs sheet of the device.
pffffff hahahaha… ok…

“for just $460” you can have a shitty atom cpu, a crappy screen, and a keyboard that’ll drive you mad. Why any sane person would buy this ? Even for $50 I wouldnt buy this crap.
This website became a joke. You’re pushing crap instead of doing what ppl are waiting from you : identifying whats worth buying in an ocean of crappy chinese tech gagdet.
We understand this kind a product isn’t for everybody but there’s definitely a market share for it. Some people might want a really small “laptop” to carry in their pocket.
I first heard about it on the Youtube channel Linus Tech Tips which gave it a fair review, that’s why I’d still suggest buying one to those who need this kind of device.
Tom, you are right as there is someone, somewhere, willing to buy a very small laptop. But what made me wrote this comment is the word “just” in your sentence “Thus you can now pre-order this somewhat innovative device for just $495.99”.
Because nowadays $460 is a lot of money. $400 can buy you a Core-M tablet + keyboard from Cube/Teclast/Chuwi, even a Core-M laptop from Xiaomi
So I’d ask anyone willing to buy this : why do you want this product ? Maybe a 8″ tab with a BT keyboard can achieve the same goal for less than $150 ?
Thus I think your article lacks of criticism, even if I fully understand someone may be interested in a (overpriced as usual) GPD product.
