Xiaomi Malaysia has announced a minor price cut for its entry-level model, the Redmi 4A. Effective immediately, the device will now retail at RM469, possibly in a bid to compete with importers of the device who happen to bring it in cheaper.
Launched in Malaysia in mid-March this year, the Xiaomi Redmi 4A features pretty competitive hardware for its price. It has a 5-inch HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM, 32GB of expandable storage, 13MP rear and 5MP front-facing cameras and a 3,120mAh battery.

The new RRP of RM469 represents only a RM40 price drop (though it is still almost a 10% discount), but a quick check on the product on Lazada reveals that many other companies already list for the price target. It’ll be interesting to see how this affects their sales in the country.
