Asus confirms Android O update for Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 4 series

Good news for all those Asus fans out there, especially those who really like Zenfone 3 and 4 series models, as the company recently promised to support the aforementioned models for quite some time in the future.

Gizchina News of the week

During today’s special event during which the company unleashed six additional Zenfone 4 models, we had the chance to spot a slide that was screen grabbed from the event mentioning that the whole Zenfone 3 and Zenfone 4 series models will be upgraded to Android O when the latter becomes available to OEM’s. The Android O update for the Zenfone 3 line will also include Asus’ newly revamped ZenUI 4.0, which the company says is simpler, more intuitive, as well as “modern and gorgeous”.

Unfortunately it seems that Asus will be taking its sweet time in rolling out the Android O update. It’s expected to hit all of the aforementioned devices “by the second half of 2018”. Yes… winter of 2018. 🙁

Thanks to Zenfone 3, I am no Asus fan, in fact, it had turned me into an Asus hater. Every bug report to Asus are brushed off as “we cannot replicate the problem here” and therefore it does not exist. The even managed to break the Zenfone 3’s camera with a OTA software “update”. Yes, broken hardware that cannot be fixed unless taken into a physical service centre.
