The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are flag bearers for Android Oreo, and a tip from veteran leakster Evan Blass(@evleaks) puts the date of launch as 5th of October.
@evleaks tweeted that the the Pixel 2 series will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 826 chipset. This might be true since Google chose to have the slightly tweaked version of the Snapdragon 820, the 821 as the chipset for the Pixel phones. The previous generation Pixel phones were manufactured by HTC, and reports say that this time, LG will come alongside HTC to manufacture one of the two devices.
Earlier leaks have indicated the presence of Android Oreo out of the box, which is no surprise, but there also seems to be a pressure sensitive frame present, know as the Active Edge, similar to the HTC U11’s Edge Sense. An earlier leak which showed a pre production smartphone, alleged to be the Pixel 2, has thick bezels, contrary to the trending thin-or-no-bezel screens many manufacturers have adopted as of late. Unlike its predecessors, the Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will probably not have the 3.5mm headphone jack.
This quarter marks the release of all major flagships by big brands like LG, Samsung, Apple and Google. With such a tough market, will the new Pixel 2 smartphones live up to the expectations? Stay tuned to find out!
