3D curved glass isn’t the latest technology to enter the smartphone industry but we still see relatively few phone makers adopt it. One of those who went all in with the tech is the new brand Meiigoo, which will be using 3D curved glass on the upcoming Meiigoo S8. Today they’ve released a video to show us how those are made, let’s check it out down below.
To make 3D curved glass, multiple and complicated processed are required, with very low yield rates. According to Meiigoo, a piece of “average glass” needs to go through more than 14 processes to become a true 3D curved one, including rough CNC-cutting, CNC-grinding, polishing, ultrasonic cleanout, heat-bending, precise polishing on the surface, quality tests, chemical strengthening, GDF technology, coating film, etc, among which the heat-bending process is crucial to shaping up the glass.

In the video above, Meiigoo shed some light on the process of the heat-bending, using the advanced heat-bending machine to morph flat 3D glass into curved one. So, if you had any doubts about Meiigoo actually using 3D curved glass on their device, now you have the video proof that they’re at least capable of producing them.
Other than the 3D curved glass, the Meiigoo S8 will also come with a fashionable 18:9 display aspect ratio, followed by slim top and bottom bezels. We still aren’t aware of any other specs of the phone though but the company says we should expect high-end hardware, let’s hope that’s true!
