As some of you may already know, the upcoming Elephone S8 will be featuring the company’s proprietary 3D curved Lumia glass on the back of the phone. Today, Elephone has released some more details about this technology and why they think it’s better than what the competition is using.
But before that, they want people to know how much they’ve invested in finding the perfect solution, with over 130 days of R&D (Research and Development) where they tested different materials and designs. They finally ended up with the 3D curved glass we’ll find on the Elephone S8.
So, down below we’ll have the three main advantages you have from using a 3D curved lumia glass on the back of the phone:
1.Hand feeling
This is somewhat subjective but Elephone thinks the 3D glass back is better than materials such as plastic, ceramic and metal. It should get less smudges and it feels good in the hands as well.

2.Good Heat Dissipation
According to Elephone metal unibody phones dissipate too much heat and thus become too warm in your hands, meanwhile plastic ones don’t dissipate enough heat in the first place. A glass back cover will dissipate an amount of heat that’s between the two previous materials, so you’ve an overall better experience.
3.Signal
Here Elephone are most likely right in saying the traditional metal case of smartphones can interfere with the signal reception. If you use connections at 5Ghz you should know you need a stronger signal compared to older 2.4Ghz and thus as few obstruction as possible. Since the phone’s antenna is usually placed on the back of the device, it’s safe to assume a glass back would perform better than a metal one.
So, these were the three reasons Elephone believes make a 3D glass back the better option. Do you guys agree with them? Let us know in the comments below!
