It seems that Xiaomi is getting ready to further expand its budget Android portfolio of devices and this Redmi 5A model that appeared on TENAA recently could be the one!
The device hit TENAA with code name Xiaomi MCT3B, measuring 140.44 x 70.14 x 8.35mm and weighing 137 grams. The smartphone is available in black, rose gold, gold, white, blue, red, pink, gray and silver. It comes with a 5-inch TFT display that produces a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. The dimensions of the Xiaomi MCT3B smartphone is quite similar to the Redmi 4A and it also features a same-sized HD display.
Gizchina News of the week
There’s no fingerprint sensor on the device – to boost its affordable price obviously- but we do know that it runs on Android 7.1.2 and it’s equipped with a Snapdragon 425 chipset with 3GB RAM, 32GB of storage and a microSD slot, compatible with cards up to 128GB in capacity.
The Xiaomi MCT3B has a 3,000mAh battery and carries support for connectivity features like dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi and more. It is expected to become available in the coming weeks with a price tag of just 92$ or less in certain markets.
saving money on fingerprint sensors, and reducing battery capacity… tsssss… xiaomi… constant in inconstancy.
I guess it is a good plan, since they will launch another model hongmi 5 then hongmi 5 Prime with higher price tags than expected, but they will sports what people think is nowadays necessary. So they will shift the customers toward more expensive devices, but won’t be asked why they gave up on the very affordable devices… since they will propose that thing. Idiot or genius.
This is the direct successor of the Redmi 4A, which didn’t had Fingerprint scanner either, battery and processors are the same, it gains a much needed third GB of RAM, keeping the same price. I really don’t see why to complain, since they didn’t downgrade at all and at the same time they cannot cannibalize their own more expansive products.
There will be also the Redmi 5 and maybe some other 5S and/or 5X, they do small but steady improvements for each revision and they are the best on every price/performance segment, from the ultra-cheap to the high end, So I can’t really get what are you talking about, and I’m not even a Xiaomi fan boy.
