Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 has been officially launched after weeks of leaks and rumors at an event in China. Successor to the Mi Mix, the Mix 2 sports a smaller display but continues the bezel-less legacy of its predecessor.
DESIGN
The Mi Mix 2 has a curved ceramic body which is supported by a frame made out of 7-series aluminium. Xiaomi has touted the phone as being 2.5% thinner, 11.5% lighter than the Mi Mix and 7% smaller than the iPhone 7 Plus. The bottom bezel on the front is 12% narrower than the Mix. The rear camera features an 18K gold plated ring on top. Just below the camera setup lies the fingerprint scanner.
The Mi Mix sported a piezoelectric ceramic driver that received a lot of criticism. The Mi Mix 2 has improved on the same and implemented a system they call “hidden sound guided speaker”. In this system, the piezoelectric ceramic driver is coupled with a 50mW power speaker with a guiding tube. How well will this system perform, only time will tell.
SPECIFICATIONS
On the spec front, Xiaomi has left no loose ends. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 sports a 5.99 inch Super AMOLED 1080p display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood lies the flagship starrer Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset with four different memory configurations. The Mi Mix comes IN 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB and the special edition version that comes with 8GB/128GB configuration.
