It seems that Xiaomi is preparing with a steady pace for the upcoming unveiling of their next-gen flagship, scheduled to appear next year – during its first half. The Xiaomi Mi 7 model is one that all fans have high hopes for and this is only normal.
Gizchina News of the week
According to rumors, Xiaomi is already working closely with Qualcomm in order to begin testing the Xiaomi Mi 7 model with the Snapdragon 845 chipset and both companies will try to optimize the SoC in order to offer even better performance. The same rumors suggest that the Mi 7 may come with a large-sized (6 inch perhaps) OLED screen with 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the smartphone is unlikely to feature an in-screen fingerprint reader.
One thing we can say for sure (sic) is that the new Mi 7 will support wireless charging as Xiaomi recently became an official member of the Qi consortium. We can also expect the device to feature the same glass and ceramic chassis that is available on the Mi 6. As far as the pricing of the Mi 7 is concerned, it is pegged to cost around 2,999 Yuan (for the 6 GB RAM model) which translates to 449$!
Qualcomm has a vested interest in Xiaomi succeeding so this would make sense, assuming it is true. They are believed to be the leading Series B investor in Xiaomi.
