This past week so the official launch of the GoPro Hero 6, but if you really want an upgraded action camera the latest SJCAM SJ8 makes better sense.
With the launch of the GoPro Hero 6 Go Pro announced a few new features ranging from a new self-developed GP1 chipset, along with the introduction of 4K video recording at 60FPS.
While the Hero 6 is likely going to be a very high-quality action camera, we can’t help think that the pricing of this device is still far too expensive, even more so when you are able to get similar features from the latest SJCAM.
Gizchina News of the week
Just like the GoPro Hero 6, the SJCAM SJ8 boasts 4K video at 60FPS and in addition to that gets other top features including a large 2.33-inch touch screen, RAM image support, slow-motion version recording, support for Live streaming, and even voice control.
While GoPro moved away from Ambarella chipsets for the Hero 6 to achieve new features, SJCAM has remained with the Ambarella H22 and achieved some of those same features.
The 70 x 40 x 30mm camera weighs 70g, is IP68 certified, boasts a 1000mAh battery and is charged via USB Type C.
As with previous SJCAM action cameras, the SJ8 will be much more affordable with the current online listing for the camera pricing it at around 368 Euros. We hope to get our hands on the SJ8 in the next few weeks for review, watch this space.
