Ever wondered what the beautiful Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 looks like on the inside? Well, today you can thanks to the guys over at Geekbar – a Chinese tech site. They indeed just released a very thorough teardown photo gallery of Xiaomi’s latest handset; You can check out down below!
As always, let’s begin with removing the ceramic back cover from the rest of the body, using a suction cup and some prying tools.
Once we remove the back, we can have a look at the fingerprint scanner placed on the rear of the phone.
Next, we have to remove the baffle that’s fixed to the motherboard with 10 screws.
The sheet of metal isn’t there just to keep the motherboard safe though, but it also packs the dual LED flash and other contact points.
At this point we can disconnect the ribbon cable which connects the fingerprint scanner.
On the ceramic back cover, other than the fingerprint scanner, we also find the NFC module and a thermal pad to dissipate heat.

Here the motherboard gets disassembled by removing a few screws.
Then the bottom metal plate gets taken apart after getting rid of 7 screws.
Below the metal plate we find a smaller board which contains the USB Type-C port, microphone and antennas connection points.
Then we can use the easy pull tabs on the bottom of the battery to carefully remove it from the smartphone. If pulled correctly it will eliminate the troubles of using a heat gun or blow dryer to soften the adhesive securing the battery in place.
