For a long time, Google focused on Android software, Internet-related services and products. But most recently, the company has diversified into the hardware side as well. Today, it released the second generation Pixel phones, Google Pixel 2 XL and Google Pixel. Let us see what it has for us
Google Pixel 2 XL
Let us start with the display of this flagship smartphone. Google Pixel 2 XL comes sports a 6-inch screen with 1,440 x 2,880px (538ppi) display resolution and a circular polarizer which ensures that the display is very visible even in sunlight. The display of this smartphone is motivated by LG V30 which is evident in its 18:9 P-OLED screen but the bezels are a bit thick due to the stereo speakers. There is a 3D Arc Gorilla Glass 5 with square edges on the screen and there is also glass at the back with the rest of the body forged from aluminum.
The new Pixel XL 2 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory (there’s a 128GB model). It comes with Android 8.0 Oreo which only recently entered Google’s Android distribution chart and the OS brought a native support for Always On Display. The battery is as speculated, 3,520mAh capacity.
This phone which has just the black and white colour variety comes with a standard nano-SIM slot which is normal but Google included an eSIM inside the new phones, which will be used with Google Fi and other carriers. In the camera department, Google Pixel 2 XL has a 12MP rear camera which supports OIS. This is supported by an 8MP selfie camera with f/2.4 aperture. In all, this device is IP67 certified which means that it is water resistant.
