Smartphones have advanced in a super fast rate in the last years. Both in the processing power, with better performing and more efficient CPUs, in the amount of internal storage and in how much RAM a “mid-range” device should pack.
Today, we take the Elephone P8 as an example due to its whopping 6GB of on-board RAM. Elephone uses a pretty simple analogy to give us an idea on why do you need this much RAM. Let’s hear them out.
They compare the amount of RAM to a two 3-meter-wide two-way lane and the running APPs are cars on the lanes. When we start 5 APPs on the 3GB smartphone at the same time, it’s like 5 cars driving on the two-way lane, the lane is still clear. But, when you start 30 APPs, which means there are 30 driving cars on the two-way lane in total, then it definitely will cause traffic jams. In other words, the smartphone won’t be as smooth as it would be if it packed 6GB of RAM.
