According to NokiaPowerUser, the Finnish company does NOT plan to launch their Nokia 3310 3G model to the Indian market and this news – at first- caused serious conflicts between the fans of the company in the country and HMD Global.
The reason however for this decision by the latter is the fact that the Indian telecoms market is not that diversified. This means that according to them, India is considered as either a 2G or a 4G market, so HMD Global may focus on designing a new Nokia feature phone with 4G connectivity exclusively for that specific market.
These news come from Ajey Mehta, India VP for HMD Global, who during an interview mentioned that the Finnish company could consider making a 4G Nokia feature phone if JioPhone sales do create some ripples in the market and people prove that there’s interest for it.

Ajey Mehta mentioned:
“JioPhone is definitely going to have impact on the segment, and there is no question about it. We are watching how this materialises. If we see a viable business proposition, we will definitely consider it and participate”
Only time (and Jiophone sales) can tell if HMD Global will go on with their plans on this.
