Search giant Google has unveiled its new flagship and second generation Pixel smartphones, the Google Pixel2 and Pixel 2 XL, its latest take on the LG V30, iPhone X, Galaxy Note 8 and the likes.
The new devices comes with a lot of features which users can explore to their own advantage and one of those features is the automatic Do Not Disturb while driving.
Google published a new Pixel only Pixel Ambient Services app on the play store preparatory to the launch of the new Pixel 2 phones and while its basic function is to identify a song on your always-on display it is now apparent as evidenced by one of the accompanying play store screen shoot that the app can automatically enable Do Not Disturb mode when you’re in a moving vehicle.

It is clear yet if this feature by default returns the phone to a state of total silence, or if there are provisions to change it to either Alarms only, Priority or auto responses.
The feature is made active using the Bluetooth and device motion, but perhaps one of the drawbacks of the app will be if it cannot tell who is actually driving.
This feature could be well applauded if it can tell who is driving and could get annoying too if it enables if for all passengers in a car, but the good news is that you can turn off this feature if you are a passenger in the car to ensure you don’t miss any important calls, messages, and other notifications.
This isn’t the first time we are seeing features like this, Apple and Samsung already offer similar service which rather than silence notifications send auto-replies to people who call or text.
